Guest today was Lorraine Kopcyznski of the Rotary Club of McHenry (our sponsor).
*** October 9th:  Yes, this Saturday is the Car Show!  Be there by 9:00 a.m. if possible (earlier if you can) to help set-up tables, prepare for early registrants, etc.  Layout (schematic) is completed for the event.  Very few concerns heard about the fee to enter a car, and those were soothed when they learned they will get $10 in free raffle tickets and that this is a fundraiser for MAYC sponsored by Rotary.  Garbage bags to be provided by the City of McHenry (thank you!).  Signage is completed for the day of the event.  Flyers were distributed: get them up / send them to friends and more friends.  Tables and chairs are being provided by McHenry Township (yeah!).  Donuts from Riverside Bakery will be available for the volunteers (double yeah!).  Volunteers may have some from Best Buy, but so far no employee at Kohl's signed up to help.  Johnsburg Boy Scouts indicated they are sending Scouts to help and Shawn Strach will verify this.  Giveaway bags are being stuffed tomorrow night so if you have anything for the bags, get them to Shawn Strach by 4 pm on Thursday, 10/7.  Gen Lynott press-released the auto show in TribLocal, the Northwest Herald, and Ryan Conway will see if McHenry Chamber will blast e-mail the flyer to its membership.  Day of the event press will be tackled by Larry Zidek.  Raffle prizes are being coordinated by Maureen Biederer and Trista Iodice, and we have some AMAZING prizes (thank you to Wayne Jett and Mark Adams for each providing above and beyond, and extra kudos to Wayne for a potential Live Auction donation of a Bears game with many amenities to it should the crowd warrant it the day of the auto show).  GOAL:  to have credit card capability at the event, and then we could absolutely do the live auction of the Bears game Wayne described.  Raffle tickets are $1 each.  GROCERIES needed will be picked-up by Derek Watson (coffee/filters/etc.).  Popcorn machine and golf cart to be used that day: Trista Iodice will pick-up, and Shawn Strach is on the hook for getting Herbie the Love Bug to and from the event! *** The Auto Show Dream Team deserves tremendous kudos for all you have done in kicking off our premier event as a new club!!! *** October 17th: Noon Rotary Club's ham dinner is from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Hall in McHenry. Delicious meal, and they have carryouts.  You will NOT go away hungry.  Tickets are $13 for adults and $6 for kids.  The noon club will have a Rotarian (Tom Webb) staffing the Rotary booth this weekend to try to sell additional ham dinner tickets. *** October 23rd:  McHenry Sunrise Rotary Food Drive, we will need Rotarians to help pick-up boxes from businesses that have collected food, and deliver the boxes to either the Lions Club or directly to FISH Food Pantry.  If we cannot deliver on Saturday to them, we'll take it to Derek's office building until Monday.  More discussion will be forthcoming next week. *** November 15th:  Wreath order deadline.  We will have information and order forms at the Rotary booth at the car show this weekend.  PayPal on our wreath sales website ( will be up and running today per Shawn Strach.  Great job team! *** December 4th:  Wreath delivery at the Shah Center from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. *** Rotary Shirts and Pullovers:  handed out today.  If they fit, wear them at the Car Show this weekend.  Please let Jeff Batt know if the sizing was much different than you expected, as we are trying to remedy the issue.  You will not be invoiced, but rather had a dollar amount due clipped to your bag.  Please make your payment to "Rotary Club of McHenry - Sunrise" next week, or mail to Jeff Batt (3733 W. Elm Street, McHenry, IL 60050).  Thank you! *** Lastly, keep those ideas coming even if some don't go as originally intended.  Our club is here to do good things in our community and beyond, and we will with everyone's ideas and enthusiasm and common goal.  Thanks and see you Saturday!
